New Stupid Law and family member

It seems like they are even making it harder, depressing and complicated new law and calling it green paper. It should be called as toilet paper. The people who migrate do want to be a part of the society asap but they have found a new way to seperate them out.

My question is , does this also effect the SPOUSE married to the UK Citizen. Currently they can take up ILR in two years and Citizenship in three.

That route will still exists, the change will be that ILR will now be Probationary citizenship.

For someone married to a British citizen, they can become a UK citizen as well in a minimum of three years total if they get enough points by doing things such as volunteering. It can take a maximum of seven years altogether if they don't.

If they choose rather to become a permanent resident, this can take a minimum of five years and a maximum of seven.

If the spouse doesn't rack up enough points within seven years to become either a citizen or a permanent resident, the consultation documents says that the foreign spouse will be forced to leave the country, although I don't know how much of that is real and how much is bluster.

Seriously, look at page 31 of the document. It's all spelled out there.
