Spouse visa Extension INFO Required on English test

Hello, I'm looking for some advice on the the English test for spouse visa renewal.

My husband's visa will expire in July and we're still not sure which is the right test he is required to do now. I know the levels changed recently. He now has a Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care: Preparing to Work.

He needs A2 level English test from an HO approved test provider for applications after 1st May 2017.

Thanks once again. I have one last question: He seems to have gotten information that he doesn't need to do the test because he now has a new qualification, a Diploma in Health and Social Care (Level 3): Preparing to Work. Please could you help in confirming this?

Only a UK Degree would be acceptable to meet the English requirement. A Diploma unfortunately is not accepted.

Also, would my husband need to apply for a biometric residence permit as part of his application to renew? No, it is part of the application process. If you apply in person, your spouse will enroll biometrics as part of the appointment on the day. If you apply by post, HO will send your spouse a letter which must be taken to the Post Office and biometrics are enrolled there. Once your application is approved, your spouse will get a BRP card by DX courier within 7-10 days usually.

Could you point me in the right direction for paying for the Immigration Health Surcharge please?
Also, Would my husband have to do the Life in the UK test at this stage for renewing his spouse visa?
