Being present in the UK at start of qualifying period

Post by acha114 » Sun Apr 30, 2017 5:14 pm

Page 5 of Booklet AN states the following:
You must have been physically present in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands on the day 5 years before the application is received by the Home Office.

For example if your application is received on 20/3/2017 you should have been physically present in the United Kingdom on 21/3/2012
I am intending to book an appointment with the Nationality Checking Service on the 10/05/2017, but I note that I was on holiday (i.e. out of the UK) between 05/05/2012 and 19/05/2012.

Can someone confirm that this would not meet the residence requirement to be present in the UK and that I should probably wait until after 19/05/2017 to submit my application?

I first entered the UK on a Tier-1 general visa in Nov 2008 and was granted ILR in Sep 2013, so I have been in the country for longer than the necessary time period to apply for naturalisation and have stayed within the number of days absent from the UK.

Thanks in advance.

Applying on 10th May would not meet the requirement.
Apply on or after 19th May. I always recommend not to work to a specific earliest date, leave some leeway in case something goes wrong.

is this is the only criteria. I am wondering if we need to be present in the UK on the same date as application date of naturalisation for the past 5 qualifying years? Like if we are applying for naturalisation on 10-May-2017 then we should be physically present in the UK on 10-may on every year for the past 5yrs like
10-May-2016
10-May-2015
10-May-2014
10-May-2013
10-May-2012

or it matters only once just the day five years before the application which is 10-May-2012?
Pls advise.

Only on the date five years ago, not every year ...
