Do i need to fill form P85(Leaving for a year)

Post by NHS2017 » Thu May 04, 2017 10:36 pm

Hello Friends, I am sorry i have another question to clear as i find this forum helpful thankfully. I left NHS job in October 2016 and was on Tier 2 General Visa. I was sent a P45 form by HMRC than which i unfortunately have seen only now. I am only out of UK for 12 months and plan to return later this year after cooling off period. On apart of Form says " Fill in form P85 if you are leaving UK ". Is this what is mandatory to do? It says something about tax relief. I will appreciate a response please.

Please fill p85

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -right-p85.

If you left in the middle of the year, it would have been possible that you could have paid more tax and you might get a refund. You would be able to do it online or by paper .

Yes you can do because the tax year has just finished recently and they would now calculate if any refund is to be processed or not. If in case you dont then you can claim by contacting them within four years time.
