BC application for a child (alone)

Post by ashishashah » Fri May 12, 2017 11:21 am

Hello Guys,

Question :Can a child apply for Citizenship alone ?
Here is the situation:

One parent applied for Citizenship one month back. Child(born in India) applying after one month of the first parent (as child was not eligible one month back).

Other parent not applying for British Citizenship yet.

So basically Child application is BETWEEN 2 parents application and so the application will be alone.
Any thoughts?I called up council and they are not aware of the answer.

Here is what I found on Internet

• Both parents passports - Evidence they are applying with at least one parent, or that one parent is British and the other has indefinite leave to remain, or that both parents are British).

I don’t satisfy the above condition.

Thanks
Ashish

What do you mean 'child wasn't eligible one month ago'???

How old is child?

Does child have ILR?

Here is the situation :

Father got ILR in May 16 and applying for BC in May 17 (1 year after ILR)
Child got ILR in JUNE 16 and hence can only apply for BC in JUNE 17(1 year after ILR)
Mother got ILR in JUNE 16 but not ready for BC in June 17.

Child is 9 year old

The child could have applied with you. Why is mother 'not ready for BC' next month?

Thank you for your quick revert..

Mother is not able to pass "Life in Uk test " :) Trying since a long time.

So What is the option for our child ?Wait till Mother passes LIUK test ?I have my application on Monday (15th May)..How ever child is not eligible yet..She completes 1 year on ILR in June

How did the mother get ILR then if she did not pass LIUK?

Mother and father (Main applicant) are covered under HSMP Judicial review and hence we were exempt from Life in UK test...
I have my application on Monday , so can I take my child along(even though she hasn't finished 12 months)?

so I have 3 options :

1)Can the child apply alone in June ?Father applys in May

OR
2)Can I apply for my child in May along with me ?AS a family application..Child wouldn't have finished 1 year

OR
3)Should I postpone my application to June (when child finished 1 year )?Safest option, but I(father) dont want to postpone my application to June

You should either apply with your child or apply for the child after you have received your approval and attended ceremony. Your choice what you want to do.
