English requirement for Tier 2 (General) visa

Post by solozz » Sun May 14, 2017 9:59 am

Hello Everyone,

I will be applying for Tier 2 General. I am confused about the english language requirement. I chose to sit IELTS for UKVI General Training.

My question:
What is the band score required for my visa?
In IELTS website it says CEFR Level B1 which correspond to 4.0 in all four modules. Is such a low score really sufficient?

Thank you for the help.

Dear Solozz,

Please visit the following link

CEFR level B1 is sufficient for English language requirement.
Also if you have completed your Bachelor Degree in English, then you can apply for a UK NARIC certificate which will certify your course as per British Bachelor course and the corresponding level of English. This way you can skip the IELTS test. But for this, you would need a letter from your university stating that the Bachelor course was taught completely and solely in English language. This letter is more commonly referred as Medium of Instruction letter.
