Tier 2 ICT dependent visa

Dear members and moderators,

I am having ILR through tier 2 ICT from September 2016. My son born in UK is having Tier 2 ICT dependent visa valid until Feb 2018. I am planning to apply Irish visa for tourist purpose. One of the requirements is to have 6 months of visa validity after departure from Ireland.
So I want to apply for visa extension in this month for my son. Is there any time restriction to apply before visa expiry?
I am going to use tier 2 dependent visa ICT form for online application
and there is no immigration health surcharge. Is my understanding is correct on type of application ?

Can you please clarify above queries ?

You can apply at any time.

Why not register your son as British if he was born on the UK?

We have plans to go for vacation to India soon. As registering as British citizen involves lot of time, I am waiting for decent timeframe to process.
