What are the delays in UKVI?

It seems like alot of priority payers are still waiting 2 months like non priority. What might be the case for this? Is it them being understaffed? New policies after the elections? Messy applications?
Especially there is no way to check a status if you are outside the UK.


Whats the best approach and what is your expereince/timeline?
