Passpost doesnt have the surname

My friend passpost doesnt have the sure name .
Given Name: xxx
SurName : <>


What should I give while filling the application for UK VISA.
Can you please answer ASAP

Would advise adding surname to passport.

HI As its an urgency, None of his document doesnt have surname.
Is there any option to fill the application form..

Has he actually tried? My understanding is that surname is mandatory but given name is not. Advise he tries putting his single name in the surname field.
