There is a excellent self assessment tool available. I just checked my English language requirement and passed for BE done in India.

There are two different fees for Tier 1:

£350 if you submit a valid HSMP approval letter with your application (this is because you have already paid for the approval letter); and
£750 for all other applicants.

Can some 1 tell me that for FLR which fee would apply??I already have my olf HSMP approval letter ..

looks like FLR(HSMP) is no longer valid.
You need to apply with Tier1 Application forms.

If true then my question is do we get 3 years initial stay or 2 years initial stay.

This is what I could infer:

Fees is 350£ for those who are already on HSMP and applying for an extension.
Fees is now 750£ for those who are switching, say, from WP.

Well,It s all hazy right now..
How can they look at HSMP letter which was issued 2 years ago...That was initial approval..So not sure if i need to pay 350 or 750...

I hope that we will get 3 years extension..But need to go through rules in detail..too many changes..I am lost..
Will be able to come up with clear undersatnding on MOnday when i go through them in detail on weekend..

so if i have HSMP Approval Letter - i cannot apply for EC , i would have to get the new Teir-1 Letter and then again have to apply for EC ? by paying 350 pounds extra and then again paying approx. 200 Pounds for EC by Embassy ?

Old HSMP will fall under tier 1 for FLR (After two years or three years)

Ashish, after re-reading, I am confused too. The guide says:
=========
£350 Fee for applicants making a Tier 1 (General) application who
have a valid HSMP approval letter but have yet to obtain the associated
Leave to Remain. The reduced fee recognises that these applicants
have already paid for their application for a HSMP approval letter.
=========

For those who are already in the UK on HSMP:

Valid HSMP approval letter: Yes
Yet to obtain LTR: No
Already paid for HSMP letter: Yes

So, will it be 750£ for extension then?

Clarification

Post by touk » Fri Feb 29, 2008 1:14 pm

Hi,

From what I infer out of the new rules is that:

1. For Fee
750£ for people who are here in HSMP and applying for extension
350£ for people who have got initial approval for Tier1

2. Visa Period
- 3 years for people who will be applying for extension after initial HSMP of 2 years and newly applying for EC with HSMP approval
"Entry Clearance and Leave to Remain where previous grant of leave was not as a Tier 1 (General) participant (switching)"

-2 years for people who will be applying newly under tier1 extension
"Leave to Remain (Extension) where previous grant of leave was as a Tier
1 (General) Migrant"

One thing they have missed on this one is the EC under Tier 1 in which people will be applying from April onwards, but i read somewhere that the initial grant will be for 3 yrs.

so they are ensuring 5 year rule whether it is 2 + 3 or 3 + 2.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
touk

ashishashah,
For extension it must be £750 as it requires seperate reassessment of points. Initial HSMP approval letter is valid only for 6 months its no more valid now

That £350 only for those who having valid HSMP approval letter i.e, not older than 6 months and yet to switch to HSMP

anyway I havent read the forms and guidance I am just guessing this based on what they proposed

They praposed that for extension points assessment wont be free unlike before. Hence for extension fee would be 400 for assessment + 350 for LTR so it should be 750

When to submit FLR under Tier 1 ?

Post by shifi » Fri Feb 29, 2008 4:36 pm

Hey Guys, while reading though the guidelines it is not very clear on when we have to submit the FLR ( under Tier 1) if you are already in UK under HSMP. should we do it immediately ( assuming we qualify ) or should we wait closer to the current visa expiry date.

From What i undestand from the Gudelines, I agree with the above comment. if you are in HSMP and submitting the FLR, it looks like £750 !

Initial Application from India

Post by amit0277 » Fri Feb 29, 2008 6:49 pm

Folks,

I have all my document ready to apply, but I am not sure which form should I choose. I studied the form for Tier1 application but it states that the form should be filled by person who is in UK. So does it mean that the people in India who are making initial application can still apply under HSMP.

Please enlighten me.

Thanks
Amit

Hey Amit:

That's exactly what it means. The Tier 1 process doesn't start from India until April, and for other countries it's potentially even later.

If you're planning to apply now, you'd follow the rules for the old programme under HSMP.

Hope that helps.
