Travel to Dublin with ILR

Post by karthik_513 » Fri Jun 23, 2017 11:05 am

Hi All,

Not sure if this can be posted on this section

Quick question :

Do I need a Visa to travel to Dublin for couple of days if I have a UK Residence Permit (ILR) ?

Thanks for your time.

What passport do you have? Dublin is in another country (ROI). If you did not have ILR, could you travel to ROI visa free (for example, if you had an Australian passport you can travel to ROI for 90 days visa-free)?

ILR is only valid within the UK.

Again, UK ILR is only valid in the UK. It means absolutely nothing to Ireland. Indian passport holders need a visa to visit Ireland, so you should apply through the usual channels.

Not sure about ILR but Indians holding UK visitor visa can visit Ireland with just UK visa so there could be possibility that ILR works too.

See

Travel between Ireland & UK using a single UK-Irish visa

You can visit Ireland and the United Kingdom using a single visa issued by either country, if you are a Chinese or Indian citizen. For instance:

You can visit the UK (including Northern Ireland) without applying for a UK visa, if you have an Irish Visit (Tourist) Visa.
You can visit Ireland without applying for an Irish visa, if you have an eligible UK (short stay) visitor visa.
You can travel an unlimited number of times between each country with either visa, for as long as it is valid.

Read how this works under the British-Irish Visa Scheme.

Ok looks like you need BIVS endorsement for this scheme, bad luck
