Tax free Child Care

Hi All

I am on Tier 2 visa can I claim tax free child care (New scheme introduced from Sept 2017 for children above 3, if we put £8 govt will fund £2 towards the child care) for my children is it classified as a claiming benefit. I don't want to fall into any risk before applying for my ILR. I spoke to Council but they are unsure.

This is not regarded as benefit. You are safe to use this scheme on tier 2

One can't use this scheme on Tier 2. If one goes to government website and apply for this scheme it will take them through a wizard. On one page it asks whether you have access to public funds. When one selects 'no' it immediately confirms that one is not eligible for this scheme.

I agree. This is counted as part of public funds.
