New Zealand Work Permit

Hi

I am a British Citizen on a working holiday visa in New Zealand. I have recently started a job doing IT support on a contract, and my employer has told me that at the end of my contract they want to offer my a permanent job. I was wondering how I can go about getting a work permit as I can't find anywhere that gives advise. I have problem that I don't have a degree but have about 7 years working experience so I can't apply for residency because I don't have enough points. Is it easy for my company to sponsor me on a work permit?
