Is Work Permit/Visa Required during Probationary Citizenship

Post by deepakgeorge » Mon Mar 03, 2008 1:28 pm

I have gone through the green paper and this forum but could not find clear information about the requirement of a Work Permit / Visa during the Probationary Citizenship Period.

Can someone clarify on this .

At the End of 5 years on Work Permit - Will I need one more year of Work Permit / Visa to stay in the country and work during Probationary citizenship ?

Or the probationary citizenship will allow me to stay and work for any employer at the end of the 5 year stay on WP.

If so how long will the probationary citizenship be given for ?

Regards,
Deepak

The intention is that "probationary citizenship" - which is really just leave to remain under the immigration rules - will carry rights to work independently.

But by the time the new rules are in place, all could be different.

So far it looks like you'll have same rights as of HSMP holder during probationary citizenship period.

Only extra thing you might get is home fee rate for any course. However, it is not yet finalized.

Calm down dear..they are only proposals at the minute..They won`t be implemented atleast until the end of this year and no one quite knows the details of the changes at this stage..
