Tier 4 visa mistake

I recently completed my visa application. However, at my biometric appointment I realized there was a slight error in my passport number (I added a number where it shouldn't have been). It was changed at my biometric appointment, but obviously not on my visa application. I tried calling the consulate but they wouldn't take my call. Could I change it on the printed out version and write a cover letter? I've already paid all the fees and would not like to redo and pay for everything again, but I also don't want to get rejected. I travel to the UK September 8th. Thanks for any help!

You can email UKVI and request them to send info to ECO.

I emailed them earlier today, and they weren't much help. I sent a follow up email. But you don't think I can just write it on my printed out visa application?

If you have not yet submitted your application add a cover note on another document . Don't edit anything on the application form as it would maybe make application invalid as that is official application.Just add what mistake you have made on seperate sheet.
