British citizen / turkish wife - travelling to belgium -visa

Post by maxilopez1987 » Wed Aug 09, 2017 8:00 pm

Hi I am a British citizen and my wife is turkish. she has been living in the UK for three years and has a spouse visa residence permit card.

Are we able to travel to Belgium together without obtaining a shengen visa as she is travelling with me?

we did visit Romania two years ago with no visa and were allowed in after a bit of arguing with the Romanian passport control.

Thanks in advance...

If you take train, ferry or eurotunnel your wife can get a visa at the schengen border post if you have the marriage certificate with you.
It is unlikely that a airline let your wife on board without a visa.

Better to apply for a visa. It will be free of charge.

HI, many thanks for getting back to me.

Do you think there is 100% chance they wont let her on the plane without a visa? problem is I thought she had the 'family of eea person residence card so I thought everything would be fine. Only noticed that its different yesterday and we are flying tomorrow so no chance of getting a visa in time!

I am afraid airline wont let her board the flight, Airlines staff are like robots, they see in their system and if doesn't show your wife is exempted they will not let her board. And your wife's UK RP is not exempted.

You should apply for the visa.
