Hello there, I am getting ready to apply for my fiance visa this week and I’ve been doing some last minute checks to make sure that I have all of the required documentation. I was wondering if someone could look through my list of documentation and let me know if there is something I may have left out and if you have gone through the fiance visa process and had a successful visa decision. Below I have included all documents that I will be sending in as well as a couple of questions that I have:

APPLICATION FORMS

- Visa4UK online app - Settlement/Settlement/Marriage
- Form VAF4a Appendix 2
- Sponsorship undertaking form SU07/12

APPLICANT DOCUMENTS:
My current passport
My previous passport (which shows the UK Student visa I was on before)
2 Passport sized photos (of myself and fiance - is fiance’s needed?)
Copy of fiance’s passport

FINANCIAL PROOF

6 months of original stamped banked statement from fiance
6 months of printed copies of payslips from fiance
Letter from his employer confirming that he is employed full time, salary, and job title confirmed (we requested a more recent copy of this to prove that he is still employed)
Original employment contract signed
Letter stating when his probationary period was passed and he went on to full-time work


ACCOMMODATION

We will be living with my fiance’s parents so included:

-Letter from parents confirming that they are okay with he and I to live at the property until we can afford our own property (also confirming when we met, got engaged and when we plan to marry in March 2018)
-Printed copy of land deed registry
-Copy of council tax bill
Should I include photos of rooms in the home?

PROOF OF RELATIONSHIP

Copy of insurance policy for when my fiance purchased my engagement ring
Copy of our Save the Date card for our wedding in March 2018
Printed copy of hotel booking when my fiance came to Atlanta to visit me and proposed in May 2016
Sponsor letter (describing how we met, how he proposed, our relationship etc.)
Letter from myself (I studied in the UK on a Tier 4 visa before and have included details about when I arrived and left the UK - which was for family and financial reasons I decided it would be best to return to the US and work and save)
30 photos of fiance and I (with family members and friends or by ourselves over the past 3 years) formatted correctly on A4 paper
Printed copies of all flight confirmations/boarding passes when we have visited each other (are printed copies okay as we don’t have original boarding passes?)
Some cards exchanged between my fiance and I for anniversaries/holidays
Congratulations cards from family members for our engagement
Email trails between us and our wedding venue confirming that we are indeed planning our wedding for March 2018
Email trails between us and our parents regarding wedding planning
Email trails between myself and wedding planner (and any vendors that we’ve booked)
Printed copy of venue deposit receipt
Facebook messages/Emails between myself and fiance over the past 3 years of our relationship

Is there a particular booklet or folder that these documents can be arranged into to make it easier for the immigration officer to go through documents easily?
Are there any other documents I should include?


I know this is long, apologies. Just need some guidance.

Hi there thank you kindly for your reply. I am applying as a US Citizen. I have since read up that I do not need to provide a property inspection report as my fiance and his parents own the property with no other tenants or roommates.
Is there anything else I should add?

Your fiance's parents should submit a copy of the mortgage agreement or if owned outright, a copy of the property deeds. They will also have to provide a letter confirming that you are welcome to live with them .

Thanks for your reply. I have a printed copy of the land deed, letter from them and a printed copy of their council tax bill. They have paid their mortgage off and have given me documentation showing such.
Are the other documents sufficient or should I provide more relationship evidence?

I am across several questions during the process of filling the fiance visa online. I had previously lived in the UK before on a student visa and withdrew from the university for family reasons and not being able to afford my studies. I was in the UK from August 2014 to January 2016.

What should I answer to the following questions?:

Have you been deported, removed or otherwise required to leave any country, including the UK in the last 10 years?

Have you ever voluntarily elected to depart the UK? Have you ever voluntarily elected to depart the UK?

Hi there,

I left the UK before my visa was curtailed. My university notified me that they were going to notify the Home Office but did not receive any official paperwork from the Home Office at all and only heard from them until after I had left the UK already.

Sorry for the multiple posts - upon searching through my email I found an office email sent from the Home Office sent in November 2016 notifying me that my visa would curtail in January 2017 oddly enough.

I left the UK in January 2016, so the Home office took nearly a year to serve me the paperwork. My school put down that my withdrawal was May 2016 due to poor communication on their part. That being said I left well before being notified.

Should I answer 'no' to have you ever voluntarily elected to depart the uk?

I applied for my fiancée visa today and filed under Settlement and Marriage as instructed. I am a US Citizen and fiancé is British. For marital status I selected Fiancée/Proposed Civil Partner and when asked what is your relationship to sponsor I selected ‘Friend’ as I didn’t see an option for fiancée and just saw partner (and assumed that was meant for same-sex couples). Can someone advise whether or not this will affect my application?

Hi there,

I just wanted some clarification over which documents need to be originals and which ones are acceptable submit as copies.

I have originals of my fiancé's bank statements which have been officially stamped and letters/cards and receipts.

Documents that I have copies of that I am concerned about are the:

- payslips (I have a employment letter from his boss confirming that the payslips are genuine and accurate)
- council tax bill from his parents
- land deed

Is it okay that these are copies?

Please advise which documents absolutely must be original.

Payslips and banks statements MUST be original. If payslips are online ones, they MUST be stamped and signed by the employer/HR (each payslip).

Apologies, as I did not realize this was against the rules...

I have email confirmations of flights booked. I assume that these are acceptable as copies? It's a bit hard to keep track of each and every original boarding pass.

I said the payslips and bank statements need to be original as do the employer letter, the main 'meeting the financial requirement' stuff must be originals.

Ok no problem.

My fiancé's job only process online PDF payslips, so he is going to contact HR to see if they can write an email detailing and confirming his pay, his manager was also going to confirm in the letter the genuity and accuracy of the payslips.

I did spot a really dumb mistake on my part. On my online application I provided information on my previous student visa. I accidentally entered the wrong date for the expiry of the visa.

Can the correct date be written on the physical copies sent?
