Application through Nationality Checking Services.

Post by Alecarrey » Sat Sep 02, 2017 6:00 pm

I have applied for the naturalization through Lewisham council Nationality Checking Service last month.
I opted for the Joining passport and citizenship application.

The officer made copies of my passports (expired with the 5year Residence attached and the valid one), my permanent residence card (EEA family member) along with the AN completed form and the passport form both with the payment slips. As well as copy of the English test result letter and the life in the UK original. Plus SAR (stating the exact date I have been granted permanente residence).

Despite my insistence of sending all my P60 and some other official letters as proof of my lawfully Residence she refused remarking that all the required documents were collected already.

So far so good. Payment went through for both Naturalization and Passport.
Letter of aknowledge and Biometric invitation received and done.

I searched information from other Nationality Checking Services and effectively what the officer took from me and sent to HO was right.

Today reading the forum one person post that HO asked for P60 and more proofs of lawfully Residence. Certainly the person is not saying he/she used NCS but stated that he/she sent like in my case: the passport, the Residence Card and so on.

I understand every case is treated differently but now I am concerned.

Is someone else in a similar situation?

Please any sharing for a bit of peace of mind.

Thanks a lot.

Relax (I know it's hard). Yes, NCS caseworkers are capable of making mistakes and the Home Office might get in touch with you to ask for more documents, but chances are your application is fine. You mention that your permanent residence is on the basis of being an EEA family member, so I take it that you yourself are not from the EEA, which means that your passport was stamped every time you entered the country (please correct me if I'm wrong). This means that the P60s weren't necessary, because your physical presence in the UK is established by the passport stamps.

Hi Tea_Rocker.
Thanks for your message.
Yes. My passport was stamped but not every time. Some officials at borders in the UK and in Europe considered that was not necessary as I was exercising my EEA family member rights. However some stamps could be seen through the 5 years period and actually the NCS officer made copies of the whole passport.
Once again thank you very much.

Good to read about your experience... I applied through the FIfe council and the lady only took my P60s after I insisted on providing them, I had also brought in my payslips. I think these are not required explicitly so don't worry. Your NI number will bring all your work history (which I imagine the UKVI teams will look at anyway.

In my case, she took all my documents and passports to the next room to photocopy. I did not see what she had photocopied and how she'd compile them as some documents were in wrong order so getting a bit worried... Was yours the same?

By the way, when did you apply, when did the HO recieve your documents and how soon did you get your acknowledgement letter/email and biometrics? I am still waiting for confirmation and money being deducated so be good to hear what the general time frame is...

Good luck!

This is expressly what the timeline threads are for. Fees are deducted around the time the acknowledgement and biometrics letters are sent, with most people receiving them between 1-3 weeks after they submit their applications.

Hi Silver....
I didn't see her copping my documents. She told me she copied all my passport pages where stamps and the attached Residence of five year could be seen.
She took the life in the UK original letter. Copied the trinity college certificate and attached the SAR.
I applied on 15/8.
Received by HO on 16/8
Letter of aknowledge and Biometric dated 22/8, received 25/8.
Naturalization payment deducted on 23/8.
Passport payment deducted on 25/8
Biometric data sent 26/8
Application status: awaiting a decision since 22/8

As tea_rocket said you can monitoring timing of the corresponding thread.

Good luck to you too.

Thanks very much for that, it makes sense. No I am monitoring that thread as well but it's strictly timelines (and not a lot of context) so that's why asked here...

Good luck to you as well, it's quite an axious few months and hope we all get good news soon :)

Hi

I had smilier experience when I applied in April this year via NCS Westminister London. I had my P60s and few other documents but NCS officer said they are not required. I was also bit concerned but HO did not request for any more documentation and my application status has been updated to 'Decided'. Just waiting for the letter for ceremony now. FYI I too applied as EEA family member.
