I would be grateful, if anyone could comment on the following article that I found in one of the “Immigration News Lettersâ€

Hello Kalugampitiya
The implication of Tier 2 on current work permit holders is that all employers, who have non-EU employees in their employ on work permits, are obliged to apply for a Licence from the Border & Immigration Agency to continue to employ such non-EU nationals in the future
The guidance is out:

SPONSORSHIP UNDER THE POINTS BASED SYSTEM LICENSING GUIDANCE

There hasn't been an announcement about what will happen to current work permit holders yet.

I haven't been able to find anything to say that an employer will have to apply for a license if, for example, they have two work permit holders and are not going to apply for any more.

If anyone find something official to this effect - please can they post it.

Regards

Hi Board

My WP (FLR) is expiring by the end of Sept 2008, and my sponsor is happy to apply for an extension. Does it mean that he has to apply for a license prior to an extension of WP?

2nd point, I am in teaching profession where workforce is always planned at least 3months in advance (which means by the 2nd week of April) before the summer holidays 15th July. Because the number of students I am going to teach next year (in Sept.2008) has been recruited. Can my employer apply for an ext. in April with a letter to justify the reasons? I know it says on the website that WP Ext. is allowed only 3months in advance before the FLR runs out,

Thanks for the suggestions in advance.

Cheers
Sam
