Transfer of visa to New passport from expired one

Post by Ronnie007 » Thu Sep 07, 2017 10:23 pm

Help please.

I'm currently holding Resident permit visa as family member of European( I am non European). My non EU passport has expired but the visa hasn't. My issue is would like to transfer my visa to new passport or ask home office to issue Biometric resident permit card.

I need this to show my current employer at end of the year. As my passport was stamped with resident permit but has expired. I have a new non EU passport already. What would be the procedure ? Is it the same 100 pages I need to fill for resident permit and do I fill as if am aplying the fresh one? Are they gonna grant me the 1yr and 3 months left before applying for permanent resident next year December or they just gonna grant me another 5yrs?

My employer will need to see either my resident card or visa in new passport checked this in gov.UK website it is a legal requirement and its a big financial company they do checks every year. I need your help guys.

Many thanks

Ronnie.

Thanks, will have to re apply then.

Will post time line next week.

But it is insane because next year will have to re apply for PR as well. Hopefully they will grant me PR instead of replacement as only a YR and few month left to qualify for PR.

This government is from another planet the way they treat EEA applications.

Why don't you just carry both passports? This is what i have been doing, old passport with valid sticker plus current passport and i never had any problem travelling or with employer.
Try and show both to employer with homeoffice doc explaining that you need to carry both passports.
A year is a long way from PR you will be extremely lucky if they do grant PR.
GOD BLESS!!!

I would suggest the same, particularly considering that it takes nearly 6 months for them to process the EEA applications so it would be a long wait for a new card anyway. Just carry both passports. I have also done that in the past (at the time with a Tier 2 visa, but it should be no different for an EEA permit).

Visa guidance (again, should be no different for the EEA vignett)
https://www.gov.uk/transfer-visa

You can still use the valid visa in your expired passport, but you’ll need to show your expired passport and your new passport when you’re travelling to and from the UK.

Who says you need to show this to your employer at the end of the year? According to the 2017 guidance at https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... yers-guide, the 'statutory excuse' he got from copying your stamp lasts until its expiry, not the expiry of the passport. This should normally be 5 years from when it was issued. (A family permit, on the other hand, lasts for only 6 months.)

This forum is brilliant and got X factor. Saves wasting money to some clown solicitors.

Thank you much for information. I just forwarded this to my work email ready for 'Torries employer' to ask me a thing.

And without making up already downloaded the 100pages form and some of the questions were beyond this planet .
