Visa in expired passport

Post by egoode » Wed Mar 19, 2008 2:48 pm

Hoping someone can help me here.

My HSMP is due to be renewed in August and as my passport will only have 1 year validity left on it I've decided to renew my passport before I apply for the extension.

However I have a trip planned between getting the new passport and applying for the extension.

Will I have any problems getting back into the country if I don't transfer my visa which would be expiring in a month to my new passport which I will have only received a couple of weeks earlier? Can I just show them my new and old passport?

If you have actually done this did they tell you off for doing it?

Thanks,
Emma

It's perfectly fine to present bold old and new passports, with the visa in the old passport.

Good to hear. I had someone else tell me it might be a problem but I couldn't see the point in paying to transfer the visa across when I'm going to be applying for the extension just a few weeks later.
