TIER2 EXTENSION - Short extension received

Post by BuxZED » Sat Oct 14, 2017 4:37 pm

Hi everyone,

I applied for my tier two general renewal on 25/11/2016 (Tier 2 leave to remain)

At this point I had been on Tier 2 since 17th January 2014; after I converted from Tier 4 Student, 2016 was my first extensions

my question is, whilst my friends have gotten 3 years extension, I have only gotten 1year and 10 months. this falls short of the 5-year requirement to convert to the "Tier 2 indefinite leave to remain" (if I understand this correctly)

does anyone know what's going on?

why the reduction?

how does this affect my chance of renewal?

what should I do proceeding forward?

any help is appreciated

Kind regards
BuxZED

The Home Office normally issues visas with validity period based on the length of your COS letter (start and end date).
You can find out that from your HR team responsible for issuing COS letter.

Anyhow, you can stay on Tier2 Visa for a maximum of 6 years period, so you would be able to extend it (under the immigration rules at the time of extension). It would be very odd that your COS length was 3 years but visa was issued with length 1year 10 months.
This is based on my personal experience.

Guru's with more extensive experience can explain further

sorry for the long delay in responding; life got in the way

got hold of a copy of my CoS from HR

Current Cos status: USED
Start date: 01 January 2017
End date: 31 December 2019

I don't know where/who to contact to resolve this issue/ get a clarification

Admin review well after 15 days?

Post by BuxZED » Tue Jul 03, 2018 11:12 pm

Hi All,

I applied for my tier two general renewal on 25/11/2016 (Tier 2 leave to remain)

At this point I had been on Tier 2 since 17th January 2014; after I converted from Tier 4 Student, 2016 was my first extension

I applied with a CoS valid till 31 December 2019. but my new visa expires on 14th September 2018 (1 year 10 months, instead of the 3 years) (17th Jan 2019 will be 5 years on Tier 2 Gen to be eligible to apply for ILR)

I noticed this well after the 15 days for the administrative review had passed :( mistake I very much regret

what are my options?
