Important message regarding 16 Oct ceremony

Post by September » Sun Oct 15, 2017 8:53 pm

Over 3,000 people are due to attend the citizenship ceremonies scheduled for tomorrow, Monday 16 October, at the Dublin Convention Centre.

The Department of Justice and Equality requests that people planning to come from any of the counties expected to be most severely affected, or who otherwise have any concern for their safety in travelling, do not travel to Dublin. Arrangements will be made to hold a new ceremony before the year end and anyone who is unable to attend tomorrow will be facilitated with a new ceremony date.

Hi Guys,
It’s disappointing to hear the ceremony postponed. Would anyone know if you could travel without GNIB card ? I booked my travel but now ceremony is postponed! Is there any way to travel before the next ceremony? Just to mention that I have visa on my passport.
Thanks .

keep a copy of the invitation letter with you, and I believe you'll be fine.

I think the ceremony is still on. Someone called the office and they confirmed that it is still on.

Meanwhile, if this cancellation news was true, they first place they would update will be their website. The site still upholds the original date!

Appologies all!

Was just going by conversation between attendees and minister on the minister's twetter account. But it's official now, it's been CANCELLED!

I am guessing they will reschedule it for next month...

Thanks for the reply Tatalo , you reckon invitation letter would substitute GNIB card in relation to Boarding a plane & immigration checks abroad?
I do have a copy of GNIB though!
It should be ok for irish authorities but I am not too sure for other countries!!?
Cheers

This is actually heartbreaking! But I am sure they would be responsible if someone headed out for ceremony got hurt. For me it means re-booking travel and accommodations, that was quite expensive. I wonder how much notice they will be able to give for new ceremony? Best of luck to all - its a long time coming, and now too have to wait again is awful!
