Wrong address for citizenship ceremony!

Post by eniseg » Wed Oct 18, 2017 12:17 am

Hi everyone!

I‘ve just been invited to my citizenship ceremony. Only it‘s been allocated to AYLESBURY?! I live in Edinburgh. I have never lived in Aylesbury. I used to live in Buckingham which is kinda near Aylesbury but I moved away from Bucks in 2012. They‘ve clearly mucked this up. What do I do now?

Have a day or two off, drive down there and get your certificate. :) otherwise, phone them and seek advice.

It's disheartening that this is probably the quickest and easiest way to do it

Please just do it this way. Take it as going on a holiday or going for an important interview. If you try to change it with HO, you might end up doing the ceremony in 2027 :)

A trip to Aylesbury would currently cost me half of my monthly available budget, is there no other way to do this? Plus, I phoned the Aylesbury citizenship office and their phone line is constantly closed. Like I always get the answering machine..

The only other way is to call HO and let them know about their mistake, meanwhile, make sure to call Aylesbury Council and check that they have the right certificate and it’s not a case of mistaken identity.
