Employer sponsoring a UK citizen

Post by Horntonhill » Thu Mar 20, 2008 10:51 pm

Hi, I am new to this forum so excuse me if this question has been asked elsewhere.

I am a UK born guy who has been offered a job by a friend with a property company in Louisiana.
I was just wondering how difficult it is for an employer to sponsor a UK citizen for a US work permit?
Is it a long drawn out process and is a work permit guaranteed with a willing sponsor in the US?

I have no convictions and have never over stayed in the US.

Any information will be a massive help.

Thankyou in advance.

What is this job about? Is it a highly skilled profession?

If it is a skilled profession, I think you would apply for the H1B visa or I-140 visa:

It is not really that highly skilled. It is as a property development manager.

In that case, I'm afraid it's not happening. See here.
