Dear Guru's,

I am an eea family member and a citizen of India , Received my PR last year (November 2016) , I willing to apply for my British naturalization this month . I had visa rejection in 2010 got my visa again after marriage 2011 November. is this gonna effect my application ?

As I have been given PR is my previous history is disregarded ?

Thank you in advance . I wouldn't like to pay almost 1300 pounds and get rejected.

No. Whether you get ILR under the UK Immigration Rules or acquire PR through the EEA Regulations, your previous immigration and criminal history is still reviewed as to whether it meets the good character requirement for naturalisation, which is an independent and separate requirement.

What was the reason for rejection? Were you resident in the UK at that time? Have you overstayed/had illegal residence in the UK at any time in the past ten years?

I applied student visa 2008 October and i got rejection back from home office November 2010 as the college shut down.
September 2010 i requested for permission of marriage and by may2011 got letter from home office i can marry without permission. got married 2011 june.

31st of October 2008 my student visa expired. but i have submitted my application before its expiry and home office revived it as well.

Between 31st October 2008 and the date you got married in June 2011, you were an overstayer, with no legal status in the UK.

You will likely fail the good character requirement till at least 2021.

is there any possible change in rules ? or PR will be effected? I have very limited knowledge about it.

From octomber 2018 , you will have to change the pr with another document but it will be free of charge because you already sent the application and they gave you the settle status. Be patient, and keep on eye on home office website.

Just to clarify, the Brexit negotiations will likely loosen the requirements to get PR/settled status (such as not requiring CSI, etc). The OP already has PR.

What it will most likely not do is change the rules for acquiring British citizenship. Completely different kettle of fish.

Secret.simon , after talking to my solicitor today (who did my PR processing last year ) , she advised I should apply for citizenship , apparently not all the rejection is bad character . I dont know too much as in UKBA nothing explained. and i am also confused . My college shut down and my visa rejected ' false information' from Home office.
Please can you advice , as idont want to spend that much of money .

and what is csi ? neither me or my wife have it and we got novemeber 2016 PR, do we need to get this as well?
