hi guys I am seeking advice , I am not able to check my online status it does say number not recognised and I have been waiting since July , my application is straightforward so . I emailed the HO and they replied with this Email

As you may be aware, naturalisation is not an automatic process, and we have to make a number of enquiries to ensure that applicants can satisfy the statutory requirements. Some of these enquiries are carried out by external agencies on our behalf and can sometimes take longer than six months to complete.
We will endeavour to conclude your application at the earliest opportunity and we will write to you again as soon as the necessary checks are complete. Please be assured that, as soon as we are in a position to reach a decision, you will be notified accordingly.

I will forward this email to be added to your application for the case worker to review.

is it a sign? or I am gonna be waiting long I am so frustrated people who applied in September got approval , and please do not tell me cases are different and some checks need more time I've heard this from the HO don't want to hear it here

If you read on here many people are waiting from July and earlier. We have been waiting five months too. The system doesn't seem logical we all know, and perhaps some caseworkers drag the process out, we all know employees who work hard and some who basically do as little as possible. It's a waiting game with not much else to do. You basically have two choices you wait or withdraw your application if you feel it is damaging your health stress etc. I did read on another forum somebody withdrawing their application after 8 months they seemed to be going through hell mentally, after they withdrew it felt like a huge weight off their shoulders, a bit extreme but....

I applied on 2 July 17 and received my approval letter yesterday, dated 3 Nov 17. Very grateful the process has come to an end.

I applied through the NCS and the only hiccup was my passport photos had been damaged by a paper clip so I had to resubmit. The application status online is currently 'awaiting on a decision', so not completely accurate.

The forum was a great help, so thank you everyone. Best of luck for those waiting for a decision.

As my application is approaching the end of 6 months, I will appreciate if someone has some thoughts about escalation. For example, how often should I contact Home Office until we write to the MP. Do you guys have a template to share for both Home Office and MP?

Finally, is there a difference between "your application has been considered and awaiting approval" and "Awaiting Approval" statuses?

I think it's been mentioned before the helpline doesn't have access to much information and will just give out standard information, send your query to appropriate department. Better to email using that email address.

"Granted" is what the email said; however, until I have an actual approval letter in my hands, I do not know what to believe. So I wait and I hope. (The first biometrics letter they sent me had the wrong birthdate, that added to the delay, so accordingly, I am very wary.)

Simple case: wife of BC, no employment to check, no credit issues, house paid for, no other debts, should have been a walk in the park. So discouraging.

So since 30/10 , you haven't received the letter....thats bad
I am hoping the invitation letter from HO in next 3 days....i mean as per 2nd class post, it should reach in max 3 days....

The approval letter says that the invitation letter should come within the next 3 weeks. I've got a feeling it won't come until later lol. But fingers crossed as you say second class post shouldn't be more than 5 working days. I'll tag you in this post again when I receive it. Please let me also know when you get it

UPDATE:
The invitation letter from HO arrived this morning on 11.11. (Saturday) Letter is dated 1.11. so very slow second class post. I will be ringing the council on Monday to book a private ceremony within the next couple of days. I was told they still have slots available for the next week. Btw my online status has never changed and even I was approved on 30.10. as per the first HO approval letter, it is still showing awaiting a decision lol.

Good luck and fingers crossed your letter arrives soon too.

13th July 2017 received acknowledgement email from HO
21st July 2017 biometric letter received & biometric done same day
7th Nov website says 'decided'
12th Nov 2017 still waiting for HO letter
