Spouse visa accommodation problem

Post by Shaz78 » Mon Dec 11, 2017 10:05 am

Hello,
I am about to apply for spouse visa for my Wife. I am currently renting a master bedroom in five bedrooms house. I have the contract for this bedroom from property agent who are managing this property.
Could someone kindly tell me if this one bedroom contract would be sufficient for spouse visa.
I have searched the forum and still confused as some people say it should be separate flat for spouse visa and some say if you apply on sharing accommodation then it causes delay in decision of the case.
Could someone advise me what is the correct way as I am renting a bedroom in shared property and all the bills are included in the rent. I don't have any proof of address like council tax bill , electricity bill etc. Only have bank statements and driving license.
Could someone please guide me solution for this situation.

It should be fine. However, as you are living in a house of multiple occupation, you will need a property inspection report to confirm that the property/house if not overcrowded.

Thank you CR001 for quick response. I have searched the internet and almost plenty there who say thay can do it but I am bit confused as home office guidance says only independent authority can do the report. Could you please let me know what to check whether the person is qualified or not who is doing the survey.
Thanks

It can be done by the local council or any estate agent.

Hi CR001,
I Spoke to my local council and they said they don't provide this service . I also spoke to estate agent and he said for the immigration purpose the inspection report for property should be done by charted surveyor. I am bit confused and don't know who to contact. Please help thanks

My advice is get a RICS approved property surveyor to complete the report and advise you of the outcome. I know of a surveyor in Berkshire who charges between 100-200 for such a report. PM me if you want his details otherwise look up on Google.

You don't have PM function yet as you are a new member.

Simply Google or speak to the estate agents in your area.

Appendix 2 questions

Post by Shaz78 » Fri Jan 19, 2018 12:42 pm

Hi everyone,
I am bit worried as in appendix 2 form in question 2.7
'Does anyone other than your spouse live in property ' I mentioned name on the form of 3 people but two of them moved out as it's rented property . Will it impact on my spouse visa application? I mentioned the names of these people but they did not show me any intention by the time I applied. Could someone put the light on this issue please.
Thanks

Hi,

If it helps, I live with family and applied for Husband Spouse Visa.

We had a solicitor carry out the inspection. He specialises in immigration so it helped that he knew what we needed to do. They just look at the house and state that it isn't overcrowded which seems to be fine based on your description. You may need approval from your landlord before you carry this out.
