Do you need to inform UKVI if you renew your passport while you have a BRP?

Hi all,

A simple question which frustratingly the UKVI website doesn't give an obvious answer to...

Say that someone has a spousal visa, and this visa is manifested in a biometric residence permit; there's no visa vignette or any other sign of this in the person's passport. If that person's passport expires and is renewed, does UKVI need to be informed of this in any way?

In past I seen applicants whose passports were expired while having their valid visas but they didn't inform to HO but give it's detail in next extension. Those applicants had applied for different categories but I guess same will be applicable for spouse visa applicant too.

Further to this I have called UKVI on two separate occasions and two separate operators have confirmed that there is no need to let them know about the renewal unless any personal details are different between the old passport and the new passport (they are not).
