Cut off date for applying for visitors visa

Hello,

From the UK visa website we read:
"The earliest you can apply is 3 months before you travel."

Is this from the date of submission of the online application or from the date of submission at the visa centre?

As always I appreciate any suggestions.

When do you plan to apply and when do you plan to travel??

Date of submission online: 11 Dec 2017
Date of appointment to submit the application at the visa centre: 20 Jan 2018
Date of travel: 30 March 2018
