Does my partner require a return flight ticket at all times?

Post by andy slater » Thu Apr 03, 2008 10:26 pm

Hi there,

I'm just wondering if anyone can help me out by answering the following:

My South African partner came over here on a 2 year visa and has since got a 5 year permit through her work. Whilst on her 2 year visa she always had to have a return flight home booked.

Now she is on the work permit does this still apply? It just seems silly to having to pay £500 a year to maintain a ticket for her to go home.

No return ticket required as she may apply for settlement.

Anyone who has continuing leave in the UK, that is leave to enter/remain for more than six months is certainly not required to have a return ticket.
In fact, having a return ticket is not even a condition of entry as a visitor.
