Query regarding charges for Skilled - Independent (Migrant)

Post by vijaypalrana » Sun Mar 30, 2008 12:08 pm

Hi All,

I was browsing thru the Australia Governments Website :
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i/pr ... alia.htm#a

They have mentioned the charges as follows:

Skilled - Independent (Migrant) visa (subclass 175)
Charge Type Charge Amount

1st instalment $2060

2nd instalment $2860

Also they have mentioned on the webpage :

The 1st instalment of the Visa Application Charge must be paid at the time of application.

The 2nd instalment of the Visa Application Charge for dependents aged 18 years or over with less than functional English must be paid before the visa is granted.

My query here is whether I will have to pay the 2nd installment mandatory or am I supposed to pay it only if any of my dependents aged 18 years or over have English proficiency less than the functional English.

Also what is the benchmark of deciding functional English. What I mean is how much score is required in IELTS to prove functional English.

Any help in this regards is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,
Vijay

Hi,
The 2nd instalment of the Visa Application Charge for dependents aged 18 years or over with less than functional English must be paid before the visa is granted.

its only for dependents. If you dont have one you are not require to pay this instalment.

Question remains the same. Do we still need to pay the fees if our partner can prove proficiency in English? And also what about a family member who is less than 1 year old?
