If nothing changes, minimum 7 years. You can apply for citizenship after working in Ireland for 5 years. The processing time for citizenship applications is more than 2 years now.

You do not choose the visa. If you get a job in Ireland, you or your company have to apply for Work Permit (sometimes called 'Green Card Work Permit'). When you have this Work Permit, you can apply for entry visa in the Irish Embassy in your country of residence. With this visa you can ENTER Ireland. Visa does not give you the right to work. You need Work Permit to work in Ireland.

No problem :) Also, to clarify about the work permit (WP for short). There are currently two types of WP:
1) 'Normal' WP -- after working 5 years using those you may apply for citezenship or long term residency (LTR).
2) 'Green Card' WP -- you need to be an IT professional/doctor/etc. to apply for it. It is marginally better than the 'normal' WP, since you can apply for LTR after 2 years.

LTR is not as good as citizenship, but gives you some rights which makes life in Ireland so much easier :)

Hello,

It is better to avoid Ireland. The current processing time for naturalisation is 3 years and the processing time for residence is 2 years now. This is the latest data from the foreign ministry. No body knows who can survive until that time in this country????????? Very very slow system nad even you may get the rules may change at any time. So nothing goes wrong it is 8 years to the citizenship of Ireland.
