Question about when I can spend the £62500 savings

Hi.

My wife and I have recently submitted the UK spouse visa application for her. We had to have the full £62,500 in savings which we managed but only just. The official guidelines state I must have the savings in my account for 6 months prior to the date of application. However, I am aware they can check with my bank while they are processing the visa if they have any suspicion. My question is how long must I wait until I can begin spending the savings? Can I spend them straight after the date of application or is it safe to wait until we have a definitive answer from the home office? Does the home office have the rights to ask my bank what my finances are like AFTER the application date?

Any advice would be really helpful on the matter.

I would suggest you wait till you have the visa in hand before you spend the money.

HO could still ask for the whole papertrail of where the money came from.

Yes, you signed the form giving them authority to verify anything in your application. The visa processing only starts AFTER the application date.
