Can I or should I complain to Solvit?

I am grateful we didnt run into problems like many of you here by uninformed staff at embassies worldwide.
So I don't want to come across as a fussy, unsatisfied person but I have to ask:

- As the non-EU spouse of a EU citizen I applied for a Schengen visa for Germany, for a 10 day trip.
- Consulate issued the visa promptly without any problems whatsoever.

My issue is: Visa is only valid for 90 days with a maximum stay of 30 days.

- The thing is as the family member I derive the right to be in another EU state upto 90 days with my spouse. - So I believe legally I should have been given 90 day permission with a validity of 90 or 180 days.

What do you think?

My aim is not to get this visa changed but to make sure that the law is applied correctly and in future I am issued a visa longer than 3 months only.

Are you traveling with your EEA citizen spouse or are you travelling to join him/her?
Did you state that in your application (that you are travelling with or to join your spouse)?
Did you attach any proof of your EEA citizen spouse's presence in or travel to Germany?

Thank you mgb. I applied for less than 90.
I didn't know any better at the time.
However from you other posts I thought it was a right to be present for 90 days, therefore it should have been issued for 90 with validity of 180.
That's why I am asking about this. Since embassy gave only 30 day stay within 90.

You will get what you apply for.
Field 29 and field 30 are for the validity period.
Multi entry in field 24 would be also a good idea.

By the way does this mean one could ask for a 1, 2 or 5 year visa?

You could ask for a visa with 1 year or more validity. But this would be at the discretion of the embassy. Such a long visa is not defined in the directive.
