dont bet on the 1w time for getting dependent visa for wife to be.

i was recently in bangalore in feb o8. someone i know in similar situation like u, went to blore vfs office and enquired. they have told they need minimum of 12 working days to process application for new dependent.

also another point to note since your are going to get married in may. please read up on vfs india website for requirements etc. see the section regarding biometric requiremnts. there they clearly say persons with mehndi henna etc colouring hands will not be accepted for biometrics needed for visa. they say u have to wait till mehndi fades. also they say cuts etc not allowed as well. so getting visa immediately after wedding is not a feasible option as in almost all indian weddings (not all) mehndi is an integral part of the wedding.

check out the vfs india website and their new national helpline numbers
I agree.

i called up VFS helpline just now. they said min time is 10 working days for dependant visa. the form is VAF2 and the fee is 16000, you have to attach the HSMP approval copy.

Ash,

I got my visa on 02/04/08 and I would like to apply a dependant visa for my wife. Will the BDHC expect that I should have a job offer? Since I'm in India and yet to leave for UK I may not be required to have a job offer (the essence of hsmp). How much maintenance funds do they expect for the dependant? Is it (2800 + 1600 GBP)?

Appreciate your reply on this. I did not apply dependant visa for my wife along with me due to some personal reasons.

I am planning to submit the below documents for applying the dependant visa at chennai VFS on the 16th...

Please let me know anything i have missed here
- VAF-2 form (separate form for wife & kid)
- Passports with 2photo's for each
- Original Marriage Certificate with marriage photos
- Primary applicant passport copies (first & last & visa page) -photocopy
- Photo copy of Hsmp approval letter
- Original p60 (year2007 to 2008)
- 3 months salary slips & 3 months current account statements (original)
- Letter from employer
- Fund proof 3 month’s savings account statement (original)
- House agreement (attaching letter from friend with following proof)
- 3 months original bank statement
- Cousil tax original
- One Utility bill original
- Driving license photocopy
- House agreement photocopy

- Two sets of photocopies for all the above..

Some queries...

- Can I fill the VAF2 form by hand or need to convert in to word format then fill
- While applying this, I will be with my family so still i need to give sponsor letter?
- Hsmp extension for 3 years approved under tier1 system, still I can use VAF2 form?
- No clue what is payment charges?

TIA

Accommodation proof

Post by ash123 » Mon Apr 14, 2008 4:23 am

regarding accommodation proof, my husband's company will be providing us 4 weeks initial stay, but the problem is it's not yet booked as he will be joining the co in mid-may.

Will this suffice as accommodation proof ?

Tier 1 Dependant

Post by carpra » Mon Apr 14, 2008 10:42 am

Hi

I am in work permit now and i have a question on the dependant visa.

My spouse is in India and has a valid dependant visa issued for my work permit. I have applied for Tier 1 her in UK and awaiting the approval.

My question here is if my wife travels to Uk on the dependant visa issues for my work permit, can she successfully change to Tier 1 dependant after coming into UK ?

Another question When the dependant visa is issued for 12 months and if the base work permit is cancelled to revoked, what is the status of the dependant visa ? Does it become invalid as well?

Please advise me

Guys,
I have a situation here. I recently got EC which is valid till 2010. Currently I am in india. I am getting married by end of this month.Immediately
after my wedding, I would be flying to UK to join a IT firm. My to-be-wife is trying to land there in UK thru her present employer. Her present employer is processing her work permit.

My question is whether I can process her dependent visa once she comes to UK on work permit? If yes then what is process for doing that? Are the
same set of documents required which are needed when the dependent is in india?

1. you can fill vAF2 by hand
2. I think it'll be better to give.. just in case
3. call up the VFS chennai and ask regarding form and charges..
