Unmarried NON EU partner to join EU National in Austria

I am croatian national and moving to Austria for study porposes. My boyfriend is Albanian citizen and we plan to live together from September. We have been together for 3 years, and lived together 6 months so far. What are the options for him to get residence permit and live together in Vienna as unmarried partner? How to prove the long term relationship in Austria?

As far as I know a long term partnership is not regocnised in Austria.
He would have to find a reason for a residence permit by his own.
