Visa of a Child for British Father and Tier2 Dependent visa holder Mother

Post by krishna1 » Mon Feb 26, 2018 7:40 pm

Hi,

I am currently ILR holder (Tier 2 before) and have applied for my British passport (due June,18). My wife is on tier 2 dependent visa and will be eligible for ILR in june, 2020.
Question - If I have a new born child in the UK (due September and hopefully i should have my british passport by then) then what visa category my child can be? Can I apply for british passport for my child?

I will appreciate your response.

Regards,

Do you mean you've applied for British citizenship? Your entitlement to a British passport only comes after being granted BC.

What do you mean by 'June 18'? When were you issued with ILR?

I have recently applied for my Naturalisation (British Citizenship) and expecting to get my naturalisation completed by June, 2018 (counting 6 months for the process). I have also applied for the british passport at the same time. I got my ILR in July,2016.

However, if child is born before a parent was granted British citizenship, then child should apply for a British passport, while parent still holds ILR BRP.
