From Tier 2 ICT to Tier 4 Dependent & then to Tier 2 General

Post by nahtehcerehs » Thu Jun 01, 2017 9:41 pm

Hi, I’m now in the UK on a Tier 2 ICT (Short Term) Visa which is about to expire in July this year. My wife is on a Tier 4 Student Visa which is valid until next year. A Tier 2 sponsor is ready to hire me, and they are willing to sponsor me a Tier 2 General Visa.

I’m planning to switch from the current Tier 2 ICT Visa to a Tier 4 Dependent Visa first. Once I start working for this Tier 2 sponsor I’m planning to switch again from Tier 4 Dependent Visa to a Tier 2 General Visa. This option would let me continue staying in the UK. I’m wondering if the 1 year cooling-off period for Tier 2 ICT (Short Term) Visa would still be applicable for me when I apply for the Tier 2 General Visa?
Would appreciate any advice! Thank you.

Yes the cooling off period still applies. You will need to be on tier 4 dep status for a full 12 months before you can apply from home country for tier 2 general.

@CR001, Thank you for the advice :)

Hope Tier 2 cooling-off period won't be applicable when I switch from Tier 2 ICT to Tier 4 Dependent status. Could you please advice on that bit? Thank you

Hi,

@nahtehcerehs, can you please tell me if you applied for Tier 4 dependent visa? Me and my husbnad are planning for the same kind of visa switch in the UK. Need some guidance on this.

Regards,
Nisha

Kindly start your own topic with your circumstances and questions in the Tier 4 Student Visa sub forum rather than tagging onto topics that are almost a year old.
