FBR-Apostille of certificates

Post by Sotyrockz04 » Tue Mar 20, 2018 1:13 am

I received my last piece of documentation today in the mail in order to apply for citizenship though my grandfather. Inside the envelope and on the NYS website it says I have to get the documents verified by an apostille in Manhattan but the fbr website states I only need the long form of these certificates which is what I currently have. Anyone apply from NYC and not have to get these documents verified?

Thanks for the help in advanced!

Hi Sotyrockz04 - I can't answer your query from the perspective of FBR applications but for what its worth I would recommend getting the apostille stamp either way. I am a dual US / UK citizen (living in Ireland) and I ended up needing an apostille 5 years ago in relation to my civil partnership. Since then it has really come in handy for other official things (incl. my naturalisation application).

In your case I recommend it both from a 'better safe than sorry' perspective & also just in case you come across something in the future that requires you have one!

All the best!
