Understanding new English language requirements

Post by uskhan1 » Sun Apr 08, 2018 6:13 pm

Hi

I am about to switch my wife from tier-2 dependent to spouse visa. However, i have slight confusion regarding the validity of the new english language requirements.

The current rules require at least a CEFR level A1 in speaking and listening;
 a further level A2 upon renewal. And for ILR the language requirements are B1.

My question is that if my wife passes level A2 now, would she need to redo level A2 for here renewal. Or similarly if she passes level B1 now would she require to do it for her ILR application.

Personally i feel that doing level B1 should secure here for next 5 years i.e. when she will be applying for her ILR. But i am not sure if the test will still be valid by that time.

Any help will be appreciated
