L1 requirements

Post by Denebolina » Wed Apr 16, 2008 11:48 am

L1 requires that you be employed by a multinational company for at least one year. Do you have to physically live outside the US during this time?

If you are already in the US with a different visa but want to switch to L1 do you have to exit the US, live abroad for 1 yr, and then apply for L1?

If you are the president of a company that you created and that has offices in US and abroad, can you apply for L1 for yourself?

Thanks Lev.

Yes, I realize the requirement is spread over 3 yrs, but do you necessarily have to be outside the US for 1 yr during that period? Can your own company sponsor your L1?

1) No, provided that you are in legal status all this time.
2) Yes.
