You should petition the European Parliament. Examples of such petitions are on my blog.

where would i find your blog, it really grates me that they can seemingly just do as they please , i would really like to do as u suggest, with all the good advice you guys give on here that really helped me to research the directive and prepare for the application only to find that some embassies will still just treat non eu citizens with nothing but contempt, it just reeks of bullying,iv always hated bullies and would love to help bring them to account. im not fooling myself thinking i could make a difference but perhaps as a small part of something bigger it could eventually do something

There are lots of petitions mentioned on the blog, but the Ireland seems to have the most See http://eumovement.wordpress.com/info-ireland/

So it sounds like in the end you applied at the British embassy for a spouse visa instead of moving to Europe for a while. Is that correct? How did the application process go?
