specialist immigration solicitor/lawyer for ILR

Post by mayc2208 » Mon Apr 28, 2008 2:15 pm

Hello everyone,

I am preparing to apply for ILR after being a student in the UK for 10 years. I was concerned about the visa breaks/gaps, so I requested my SAR file. After studying my SAR file, it seems to me that all my applications were received before my visas expired, despite there are some gaps between my visas' renew issued dates and expired dates:

Visa Issued-----On Visa Until-----Application Received On (Home Office Case Record Sheet)

04/09/1998-----30/09/1999-----27/09/1999

23/11/1999-----30/09/2001-----Renewed at airport on 03/08/2001

03/08/2001-----30/09/2002-----27/09/2002

23/10/2002-----31/10/2003-----14/10/2003

23/11/2003-----28/02/2008-----31/01/2008

29/02/2008-----31/01/2009

The dates look okay?

I feel my application is quite straight-forward, but I would still like to have a solicitor/lawyer to make sure I get ILR smoothly and I would appreciate some recommendations of specialist immigration lawyers with good reputation.

Thank you very much.

Thanks mayc. :)

I found this-

You will see there is a firm called "Anglo Chinese Lawyers" with some contact details. Perhaps this is a place to start. I came across a Chinese-British site as well where the Chinese community in the UK seem to correspond.

It is called Dimsum. http://www.dimsum.co.uk/

I apologise if I have violated any of the T&Cs by posting these links. :? :?

Thank you very much for the reply.

I saw some adverts of Chinese law firms in China Town, but I also heard bad experiences people had dealing with unprofessional awyers. Therefore, I would like to use a solicitor with good reputation (can someone give me some recommendation from personal experience please?).

I also received your private message. Thank you very much. They told me that I need to arrange a telephone consultation first (at about £100) which is probably normal?? Are there any lawyers with clear fee structures and would quote me a fee before I decide to use their service?

I requested my SAR file
macy2208,
How long did it took to get your SAR file from the date of application and did it include all your immigration history? Curious to know.

About 6 weeks in total:

A few weeks after I sent them the letter with the cheque, I heard from them saying it's being processed; then another 2-3 weeks later, I received my SAR file.
