Dependent visa - accomodation requirements

Post by khaisar007 » Wed Mar 07, 2018 3:32 pm

Hi Team,

I have a query on accomodation requirement for a familiy consisting of Couple with 2 kids (3.5 year old and 6 months old).

I am a British Citizen living in UK and currently renting 1 BHK flat.

I am planning to apply for dependent VISA for my Wife and eldest daughter(3.5 years old) who are on Indian Passport.

Like to know the accomodation requirement if 1 BHK flat is good enough or do i need to go for 2 BHK or more?

Myself - British (In UK)
Wife - Indian (In India)
Daughter 1 - Indian - 3.5 Years old (In UK, will be travelling to UK with mother)
Daughter 2 - British - 6 months old(In UK, will be travelling to UK with mother)

I have seen the guidence on overcrowding but not sure if I can consider Hall also as a room when calculating the accomodation space.

NO OF ROOMS ..... PERMITTED NO OF PERSONS
.......... 1 ................................. 2
.......... 2 ................................. 3
.......... 3 ................................. 5
.......... 4 ................................. 7.5
.......... 5 ............................... 10

with an additional 2 persons for each room in excess of 5.

A child under the age of one does not count as a person. A child aged 1 - 10 years will count as only half a person.

Apologies in advance if i am not making sense or if i have posted in wrong thread.

Regards,
KP

An official example from official guidance coincidently matches your query:

Example B
The sponsor rents a one bedroom flat with a living room. There are two rooms available
for sleeping. His wife wishes to join him in the UK. The housing is not overcrowded as
up to 3 people are permitted to sleep at the property without it being overcrowded.

Hi Guys,

I have a query on family spouse visa accomodation requirement.

Along with Landlord consent letter and tenancy agreement, do I need to submit the accomodation certificate as well?

I am the only tenant currently living at the property for 1BHK and planning to sponsor visa for my wife and child.

Its a certificate, that confirms that property is of good size for the number adults and kids proposed to stay at the property. and its not over crowded.

Not sure if above is required or not if I already have consent from landlord via Letting agency

Property inspection report is NOT required if you rent a whole property for your own use. It is only required if you live in a house share or in a property with other people/families.
