Is a £500 solicitor worth it?

Post by Saph98 » Mon May 14, 2018 8:49 pm

I have done my research and know quite a bit about the process and everything, but some suggested to get a solicitor. Is it worth is for £500, even though they just go over my documents (which I can do as well). :?: :?:

How complicated is your situation, what are you applying for?

You say uk/eu student, does that mean you hold british citizenship plus another EU citizenship?
Who is "she"? Wife, partner?
If it is a family permit I assume she will apply from the country where she currently lives?

If you are an Austrian citizen studying in the UK and genuinely married to a non-EEA citizen it should be a straightforward case. She can apply for a family permit from her home country to join you here:
https://www.gov.uk/family-permit
This is free of cost and valid from 6 months. Once in the UK she would need to apply for a residence card (£65).
It is all very well explained on the website; I am not sure a solicitor for £500 would be worth it in this case.
Good luck!

Thank you very much for your reply.
Yeah we are going to attempt it without a solicitor, however, if it gets refused then maybe consider one.
