Surinder Singh route - Parent

Post by danishgirl » Sat Jun 02, 2018 8:30 pm

Hi,

I, a british citizen will be moving to Ireland next month and I was hoping my mum, who's Indian can join me there for the 6 months until we move back to the UK under the surinder singh route. I have read quite a bit about it and I understand that she should apply to a C visa. However, there are SO MANY types of short stay C visas. Can I apply to ANY of these?
Tourist visa

Business visa

Family or friends visa

Conference or event visa

Employment (Atypical Working Scheme) visa

Exam visa

Internship visa

Join ship visa

Marriage visa

Medical treatment visa

Performance or tournament visa

Training visa

Visa for non-EU/EEA & non-Swiss citizen travelling with EU/EEA/Swiss family

I know this sounds like a stupid question but even though I wanted to apply through this 'Visa for non-EU/EEA & non-Swiss citizen travelling with EU/EEA/Swiss family' , I am unsure if it might be rejected due to the dependency clause.

Please help!

she should apply as the member of EU citizen household. Don't go for applying as any other category as that might go against you as applying for residence card on the basis of being qualified member of Eu citizen household

You are taking on a big gamble on thinking to move back to the UK under the Surinder Singh (SS) Route. Long gone are the days where you could come to Ireland, get the EUFAM Permit, stay for 6 months & move back to the UK. There have been changes to the way UK assesses the SS Route and has made it even tougher to get a successful outcome.

You may not even be able to move back altogether before BREXIT officially happens. Getting the EUFAM for your parent can take you up to 1 - 1 & 1/2years from start to finish providing you don’t get refused in the first place. Secondly for some countries there have been delays in applicants getting their C Visitor Visa and if I’m not mistaken India is one of them. By this time BREXIT would have happened and no one really knows for certain what arrangements will be put in place.

All the best
