Is Dependant Bank Statement Enough for Tier 2 Dependant Visa Application

Post by hassanhassan » Sun Jun 10, 2018 4:02 pm

Hi,

I am a Tier 2 General visa holder in UK for last 4.5 years, recently got married, and want to bring my wife here. I have a slight confusion about maintenance, which I want to clear.
I dont have the required amount in my UK bank account consecutively for the last 90 days. However, my wife's bank account in Pakistan has well above the maintenance requirement for the last 90 days. Is her account statement enough to meet the maintenance requirement, or it has to be in my bank account? If this is not required, do I still have to attach my bank statements (to prove salary transfers etc), or no need of that?

The UKBA website suggests it could be in either of the accounts, but I wanted to clear. I do have an A-rated Sponsor and last 6 month's payslips.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Regards,
Hassan.

Please check the COS used for your tier 2 extension, very bottom of the COS it says Tick to certify maintenance for migrant (and dependents, if applicable): Y or N

However its fine to provide your spouse's own bank accounts. It doesn't have to be yours as she doesn't live here with you at the moment and she has her own funds.

Many thanks for the clarification.

In my CoS extension, it is definitely mentioned as Y for the migrant (myself only). I only got confused because somewhere in the guidelines, they mentioned you have to prove your own maintenance as well (£945), however I think it is only in that case if the main migrant is applying for extension at the same time with spouse, or maintenance is not guaranteed by the sponsor.

Thanks again,
Hassan.

Your wifes' bank statement is sufficient.
