Please post your profession when you get approval

Post by wazman » Fri Mar 04, 2005 5:20 pm

It's great to see that approvals are coming through for some people.

It would be really helpful to others if people who post the details of their approval would also post their profession/occupation.

This may give some indication of whether they are preferring some professions over others. I know doctors get priority, but maybe they are hand-picking other occupations as well.

Even those who have been refused - posting your occupation could also help give a picture of what's going on within the HSMP team.

IMHO, its unlikely that the HO will discreminate over proffesions. Processing of doctors and the points are only because of the shortage.

Regardless of your proffession, if you qualify on the points, there is no way they can refuse you. You may find that many successful applicants come from the same proffesion - but there are two main reasons for it
- There may be more jobs of that proffesion in demand in the UK, therefore more people from that proffesion applying.
- Such a proffesion might have higher remunerations, therefore easier for them to scale the points system.

The most common example is that of an IT specalist.
