Do I really need to send my foreign passport for British passport application?

I am applying for British passport after the citizenship ceremony. It is mentioned on the website that I have to send the original foreign passport.
Do I really need to send it? I will need it for travel !

Yes you need to send uncancelled passports.

That's a real problem, because there is no documents check service, so I cannot travel during few weeks / months.

Passports take a couple of weeks, 6 weeks max usually. It is not 'months' like Naturalisation applications.

over phone helpline , HMPO said also send passport which got your first entry to clearance (even cancelled)
